Lapsang Souchong is a type of black tea originally from the Wuyi region in the Fujian province of China. It's known for its distinctive smoky flavour, achieved by drying the tea leaves over pinewood fires. The smoke infuses the leaves, imparting a strong smoky aroma and flavour, offering a satisfyingly bold drinking experience appealing to those seeking something out of the ordinary.

What makes it so unique?

While other black teas undergo similar processing steps, Lapsang Souchong is the only one deliberately smoked, resulting in its characteristic flavour unlike any other tea. The aroma alone can evoke images of campfires or wood-burning stoves.

What’s in the blend?

While Lapsang Souchong contributes to the strong smoky character, it is balanced subtly by the addition of earthy Yunnan and sweetish Keemun black teas for complementary flavours.

Who does it appeal to?

Those who prefer strong and intense flavours; lovers of whisky, smoked food, or Russian Caravan, a black tea blend which includes Lapsang Souchong.
